Safety & Candle Care
On the bottom of each candle we have affixed a warning label setting out the main candle care and lighting instructions. Candles are a safe way to add fragrance and aroma to your work and living spaces, but in addition to the label we advise caution and consideration of the following rules:
Since each candle is hand-poured to order, please allow 2 weeks from the arrival date before lighting them. This time is necessary for the candles to cure fully, ensuring the best burn and fragrance experience.
Initial Burn
The first burn is the most important! We recommend burning your candle for a maximum of 3 – 4 hours during the first use. Wait until the wax has melted to the sides of the glass and a substantial wax pool has formed. This sets the candle's memory and promotes optimal burning.
Burning for less time can cause your candle to 'tunnel' which leaves a build-up of wax around the vessel's sides.
Candles should burn one hour for every 1 inch in diameter of the actual candle size.
Keep Away from Flammable Materials
Always place your candle in a safe environment by keeping it away from any flammable materials. This precaution is essential for maintaining fire safety.
Where to light your candle
Prior to lighting, ensure your candle is placed in a well-ventilated room, away from drafts, or fans, which can cause sooting (black marks on the vessel), or rapid, uneven burning. Always burn your candle on a level heat resistant surface.
Safety
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always ensure your candle is out of reach of children and pets, especially when burning.
To extinguish your candle, we recommend using a candle snuffer for optimal safety.
Where to store your candle
To ensure your candle remains in great condition when it is not in use, store in a cool dry place and cover it with a candle lid to protect the quality of the wax from dust, which can dull its scent and cause problems during burning.
